Some good news coming out of the close of October: a whole lot of children in foster care in Polk County received Boo Bags for Halloween thanks to the generosity of the community.

Polk Family Connection Executive Director Rhonda Heuer reported that children who participated in the Department of Family and Children Services Trunk or Treat drive-thru received extra goodies and gift certificates due to the overwhelming support through the Get Pump’d for Kids Initiative sponsored by Harbin Clinic and facilitated by Polk Family Connection. Pumpkin Pal signs were sold over the past month to raise over $2,200 for youth with the help of local purchasers of signs that went out in yards across Polk County. Funds will also go to support Ferst Readers in sending out a free book to children from birth to age 5.

“As we wind up one of our most successful fundraisers, due to the partnership of Harbin Clinic and the generosity of our community coming together to support our children in Polk County, I just wanted to express my heartfelt appreciation,” Heuer said. “Patty Rogers–many thanks for your help in selling and distribution!”

“Thank you Polk County for supporting our families one more time!!” Heuer added.
